Admissions and Getting Started

  • Personalized treatment using a three-phase approach
  • Effective methods for treating substance use disorder
  • Evidence-based therapy
  • A supportive, lifelong alumni program

For clients on the Suncoast of Florida and beyond, Clean Recovery Centers offers an easy transition to treatment through our admissions process. Our focus on treatment includes a proven three-phase approach, deeply enriched by 12-step principles, that provides crucial structure during treatment and into aftercare.

It can be difficult to take the first step in recovery. For some, being willing to take a chance and be vulnerable enough to ask for help is an uphill battle. You may ask, “What will my family say?” or “Will this treatment even help?” but being honest about your battle can make all the difference. In January of 2026, the CDC reported that 42.7 of emergency room visits in Florida were the result of a nonfatal overdose. You don’t have to be one of those numbers. Clean Recovery Centers is here to help you if you are ready to start your journey.

How We Treat Substance Use Disorder

Our SUD treatment plans involve a three-phase program designed to fit around your needs within your recovery journey. During our program, we help you better understand the ins and outs of your addiction, teach you the life skills that prepare you for life after treatment, and address all behavioral patterns that may have led to your addiction. All phases of our treatment are rooted in the 12-step principles, which provide a strong framework of accountability and responsibility that is helpful throughout treatment.

During our three-phase treatment plan, you may expect:

Phase I: Preparation

  • Medical detox is often the first phase of treatment for many with SUD or AUD, but it isn’t always needed. Some substances require a medically supervised detox to handle uncomfortable and sometimes severe withdrawal symptoms. During detox, you will receive around-the-clock medical and emotional support from our care team, who ensures you are completely comfortable.
  •  Residential I is Clean Recovery Centers’ inpatient treatment. During residential I, you will live in a structured environment, supported by our excellent care staff who take care of everything you need during your stay.

Phase II: Action

  • Day and Night Treatment (DNT) treatment continues a level of care that teaches you the necessary tools and life skills needed in the real world, but also helps you begin a change in your beliefs anchored to addiction. If you are participating in DNT, you can choose to reside in Clean Recovery Centers’ community housing, but this isn’t necessary.
  • Residential II is a follow-up of residential I treatment and focuses primarily on the mental health challenges that are often overlooked during SUD treatment at other facilities.Mental health stability is a priority during this time. Care includes psychiatric evaluations, mental health and substance use education, and medication management.

Our treatment program for mental health focuses on your trauma and teaches you identity reconstruction, self-management techniques, and personal growth development strategies.

  • Our Partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers a more comprehensive level of care than our outpatient programs, while still allowing you to return to daily life outside of treatment. When you finish residential treatment at Clean Recovery Centers, you are welcome to participate in our PHP program. During PHP, you will participate in activities and community involvement during the day, and can return home at night.

Phase III: Maintenance

  • Intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) at Clean Recovery Centers is comparable to residential treatment in its effectiveness and structure, while allowing you to choose to stay in our transitional living residences or return home. During IOP treatment, you will attend group and individual therapy sessions, receive the help of case managers, and continue to learn the tools needed to combat addiction and live a substance-free life.
  • Outpatient treatment (OP) offers the same treatment as IOP, but with a minimum of two hours of services a week. When you are in OP, you can choose to return home and continue your daily routine or join a sober living environment for additional transitional support.

Aftercare

  • Our alumni program is one in a million, providing you with ongoing support not only after treatment but throughout your life. We don’t want you to have to journey through recovery alone, and with the many chats, meetups, and community activities that alumni experience, you never have to.

The First Call: What to Expect

Pre-Admission Assessments

Because we know that mental health issues and SUD can be closely intertwined, we treat both mental health concerns and SUD at the same time. Ignoring one while focusing on the other often leads to setbacks. At the beginning of admissions, you will be closely evaluated to understand the physical, emotional, and mental health aspects of your SUD. Our medical staff will ask about your history with mental health, as brain chemistry, environment, trauma, and even genetics may have led to your SUD.

Insurance Verification

At Clean Recovery Centers, we work closely with you and your insurance provider to ensure you receive a care plan that fits your coverage. Your specific plan will often vary in what is and isn’t covered in your treatment.

  • Comprehensive coverage —Coverage typically covers various aspects of your addiction treatment. This includes detoxification, therapy, aftercare, and more.
  • Immediate Verification—Clean Recovery is in-network for many providers, but not all. The best way to understand how your recovery plan will fit within your insurance coverage is to obtain an insurance verification. Call us or fill out our insurance verification form, and Clean Recovery Centers can provide quick, easy verification for you.

Out-of-Pocket Costs After Insurance

We don’t want anything to distract you from your journey. That is why we work with you before and after treatment to ensure there are no surprises regarding extra out-of-pocket charges. We ensure that all treatment plans are discussed, agreed upon, and aligned with your insurance coverage, so that your personal treatment plan fits you and your budget.

Practical Preparation - How to Get Ready

The hardest step to recovery is always the first one. We know this time can be overwhelming, but we want to make it easier for you. We have prepared lists of what and what not to bring during your stay with us.

What and what not to bring

When packing for treatment, keep things simple and practical, so you have space to focus on what truly matters: your recovery. Some items can disrupt the treatment environment, pose safety concerns, or simply aren’t needed during your stay. A good rule of thumb is to bring about two weeks’ worth of clothing and personal items, just enough to keep you comfortable without feeling weighed down.

Examples of what and what not to bring during treatment:

Items What to bring What not to bring
Clothing
  • T-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, fuzzy socks— any clothing you find comfortable wearing at home, while keeping everything weather-appropriate
  • Workout clothes and sneakers that you can wear during physical or outdoor activities
  • Underwear and pajamas
  • Revealing, uncomfortable, or inappropriate clothing
Personal Items
  • An insurance card and a government-issued ID
  • Medications in original bottles and a list of current prescription medications
  • Personal hygiene products that are alcohol-free, including shampoo and conditioner, soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, lotion, and deodorant
All personal grooming items must be in their original packaging and be unopened.
  • Anything that can be used in unsafe ways
  • Weapons of any kind
  • Aerosol sprays, glass containers, or sharp objects
  • Sentimental or valuable items that can be easily lost or damaged
  • Substances, alcohol, or non-prescription medications
Down-time material
  • Books, magazines, and other reading materials
  • A journal or a notebook
  • Tablets, cellphones, and other electronic devices are welcome; however, access may be limited based on their level of care or daily activities.
  • Any electronics that could disrupt therapy, such as gaming systems and TVs
  • Outside food, drinks, or energy supplements
  • Pets (Only certified ADA service animals are allowed at Clean Recovery Centers)

We also provide laundry services once a week, using large, commercial-grade machines. Because of this, we recommend leaving delicate clothing items at home. If you require additional laundry services during your stay, let our staff know, and we will be happy to help you.
If you have any additional questions, give us a call! Our staff is happy to answer them before your stay to ensure you can transition smoothly into treatment.
