Alcohol is the most commonly abused depressant, but this category also includes Barbiturates, Tranquilizers and even Nicotine.

STIMULANTS

Stimulants, sometimes called “uppers,” temporarily increase alertness and energy. The most commonly used street drugs in this category are cocaine and amphetamines.
